Happy Halloween!

Did you all have a good Halloween?
We did! Sydney got lots and LOTS of candy.

Sydney dressed up as a little sheep
and ya'll, she looked absolutely a-dor-able (And I'm not just saying that because she's my daughter).

This was her first year trick or treating and well this being her first, I decided to attempt a home made costume for Sydney.
It was super easy because most of the stuff I needed to make the costume, were things she already owned and so I only spent under $5! But most importantly, my little girl loved it!

Here's what I used:
White hooded sweater-- already owned from Target
Black long-sleeve shirt-- already owned from Walmart
Black tights-- already owned from Target, I think
White underwear-- old pair from Syd's closet
Bag of 400 Cotton balls-- $3.50 from Walmart
White & Black felt sheets-- $.20 cents each from Walmart
Tacky fabric glue-- $.97 cents from Walmart
Total: $4.67+tax
This was totally worth it, and everyone loved her costume!!

Hope you all had a safe & fun-filled Halloween!

Fun at the Fair

Syd & Mami
Janet & her girls
I took my little girl to the Texas State Fair last Wednesday. A girlfriend of mine, Janet who has two little girls (4 and 1.5 year old) and I decided to head out and take the girls to the fair/play date. Ok! Let me be honest here...I was determined to try all the most of the yummy fair food. Family fun/play date was a bonus.....but the main attraction, for me at least, was the food. :) I don't know about y'all but there's something about fair food that well, it's just so stinking good. I know, I know, it's not healthy for you, or that it's all fried, but look at it this way, you're not eating it everyday...you'll start your diet regimen the next day. ;-) Anyway, although, I wanted a bit of everything...I decided to start off with a Fletcher's Corny Dog, and that my friends, is a real T-R-E-A-T!! I was so full I didn't have room for anything else, but by the end of the night, I did nibble on a delicious....wait for it.................................FUNNEL CAKE!!! With fruit topping, and whip cream! I'm sorry for my ramblings y'all but I was so excited about the food!! :)

Anyhow, back to the real reason for this post, my lil' munchkin! My friends' little girls had fun but I'll let her talk about their day. :) Syd particularly, had a fun-filled-day - she got on a kiddy roller coaster (And didn't even cry - my big girl!), she nibbled on some yummy food, and watched both dog and pig races. She got to see lots of animals (which she loved by the way), and even got to feed some of them. The petting zoo was a hit for small children.

WEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
The thing I enjoyed the most was watching her go through "The Little Hands on the Farm", she really enjoyed that. She started off getting her apron with basket and shovel, then off to a scavenger hunt type of activity where she fed animals, planted seeds, drove a tractor to haul her crop, then cashed in crop and she was able to buy a snack from a store.  It was her very first time doing something like this and she really did quite well (for a 13 month old).

Overall, we all had a lot of fun just people watching, playing with the kiddos and checking out all the sites and exhibits. Very glad we went, for sure!!

Make your own Monogram

Create your own vintage style monogram here. Best of all, you can pick the colors of your choice! I wanted to test these with my baby girls' initial and DOB. Isn't this precious?

I thought this monogram was a quick and easy way to put on anything that you'd like...ie thank you notes, stationary, envelopes, labels, cupcake toppers...etc.. A follow-up post to follow with whatever I can come up with...

HAPPY TUESDAY!! :)

Sydney's Seussical 1st Birthday!!

September 7th was my baby girl Sydney’s 1st birthday but we had her birthday party on Saturday, the 10th.  Well worth all the frazzled planning and last minute mix-ups. Sydney is so loved by a huge “village” of family and friends. I’m a lucky Mom to watch my snuggly baby blossom into a curious, determined little toddler.

The Dr. Seuss theme was so much fun! Inspiration and graphics came from different DIY blogs (Which I'm so greatful for). My niece Mariela, stayed up late Friday night helping me bake cupcakes, cakepops and finally, dipping the marshmallow hats in candy melts. Thanks, Mariela, don't know what I would've done without you!!  I wanted to bake cookies with Syd’s "initial" as well as a #"1" on them, but that turned out to be overly ambitious.
The happy birthday banner I made using this tutorial and the bunting banner I made using an old Dr. Seuss book I bought at the thrift store for .49 cents. I just sewed some bias tape over it to hold it together. I guess you can hot glue the bias tape if you wanted to but since I was already sewing my little girl’s outfit, I decided to sew it together instead of using glue.

I made red velvet cupcakes – those are always amazing.  I loved the idea of Marshmallow Hats that I saw here.  They were the first to go!
The cakepops were also a hit; Although, it was my first time making these, I thought they turned out pretty good and had many compliments. Plus, I added few of my favorite Dr. Seuss quotes around the table and framed them, just to add to the decor!

My first time making my own water bottle label using this tutorial. They turned out so cute! Why hadn’t I made these before?! They are super easy!! Thanks, Sarah for sharing...Love, love her blog!
Sydney loved her cupcake and cakepop! She loved her some sweets on this day, let me tell ya!
12 month photos – a cute idea I saw a lot of families do.

Seuss inspired food – Green Eggs and no ham (but we had hamburgers, does that count?).

My baby girl had so a FUN time at her birthday party!! I truly am so blessed!! :)

Happy 1st Birthday Sydney! Mommy loves you very much!
Thanks for stopping by....I had so much fun preparing for this special day. I cannot wait to see what next year has to bring for us.  :)

Mommy made this dress...

As a kid, I use to watch my mom sew and she’d even let me help at times. I grew up hearing her say, “I use to make your dresses when you were just a little girl…they are just so easy to make.” As I got into my tween years, mom would show me how to make my dolls clothes...nothing fancy just a dress or a top/bottom piece and she was right, it was easy. Single pieces were enough for me; it felt good putting my dolls into something I made. Unfortunately, I never really stuck with sewing until recently being driven by creating something special for my baby girl. I'm 30 years old now and can honestly say that the immense love I have for my little girl has awakened a creativeness to make something for my new "doll", my daughter.   I made this dress for her a few weeks ago simply by watching a tutorial, because believe it or not, I could not remember a thing about sewing…it has only been 17-18 years ago… J

Anyhow, (since I'm a visual learner) I found these AWESOME video tutorials by Simply Annie Kate. Love her!! They are easy to follow and the best part of it is, if you missed a step, you can easily just rewind the video. J

Enjoy! Hope you find it helpful!

P.s. I’ll post the back of the dress soon…

Looky here, my first new post!

I apologize to anyone that has visited my blog in the last couple of days only to find it in a complete dis-array and a war zone. I have been doing some housekeeping on my page. I'm one of those people that is never satisfied with the way their blog looks. I am constantly tweaking colors, fonts, layouts, templates, etc. I finally got it to the way I like... And what do I do? I change it again! I found yet another template website with the coolest designs. So, I had to try it out.

I tried a few different templates & backgrounds in the last 2 days and they were nice but I was having a hard time manipulating the column sizing and colors. I need full control. (Can you say Control Freak??)

So we're back to the way my blog was up until 2 days ago. I really need to brush up on those HTML skills, and start coming up with my own designs... Hmmmm, if only I found the time!

So anyway ... here’s a list of a couple links I’ve found with cute FREE blog layouts…Enjoy!
